A 12-year-old child in Mpumalanga was taken into custody by the police after being accused of fatally stabbing another boy during a game.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Matsulu C, Mbombela.

According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a police spokesperson, the children were playing with a third child when a fight broke out.
The alleged perpetrator, as reported by a 12-year-old witness, claimed that the victim slapped him, prompting him to retaliate by stabbing the victim with two broken beer bottles before fleeing the scene.
The victim’s family was alerted by the third child, and they rushed him to a local clinic where he later died due to his injuries.

The police arrested the alleged perpetrator on Tuesday afternoon, and the case will be handled by probation officers who will assess the minor before their court appearance.
Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the provincial police commissioner, described the incident as indicative of “a societal moral decay” and urged community leaders to collaborate with law enforcement to rehabilitate communities.
