Three leopards were observed patrolling the N2 in northern KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday.
MfanaNaye Mathe, Mayor of Jozini Municipality, issued a caution to motorists in the area between Mkhuze and Hluhluwe.

The leopards were spotted on the road as they crossed the island. It is strongly advised that truck drivers, in particular, use extreme caution. Avoid getting out of the car and onto the road, as well as standing outside cars. “These leopards were seen near Biyela and a near river,” Mathe said.
According to Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, the leopards spotted on the highway escaped from neighbouring game parks.
“Like animals such as snakes, jackals, and hyenas, leopards are free-living in many parts of KZN.
“They are found inside and outside of the protected areas. So, if next time you spot it, count yourself lucky, as they are rare animals to spot. Appreciate its beauty and don’t engage,” Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife said.
