DJ Tira, also known as Mthokozisi Khathi, has recently responded to claims of infidelity in his marriage. A blogger alleged that Tira’s wife, Gugu Khathi, was cheating on her husband with former Kwela Tebza member Tebogo Lerole while working in Eastern Cape.
GBV activist Slindile Khumalo, who was present at an SUV Challenge event, claimed to have witnessed Gugu visiting Tebogo. She stated that she had “receipts and conversations” that she planned to use in court and that she did not have to justify herself.
DJ Tira’s Response
When speaking to news reporters, Tira stated that he was unbothered by the claims because he trusts his wife. He said, “I trust my woman, I don’t pay attention to nonsense.”
Tebogo Lerole’s Response
Tebogo also responded to the allegations, stating they were baseless and false. He claimed that Slindile had been dismissed from the foundation due to her ill behaviour and that she did not represent the foundation’s ethos. He stated that she had written messages saying she would get back at him and had claimed that Gugu and he were having an affair.
Tebogo said, “I’m not bothered with that. I think Gugu knows the truth, her team knows the truth and I think even the husband knows the truth. I have known Gugu since I was 15 years old.”
He also stated that he believed this was an attempt by someone to tarnish his name or the foundation’s name. He said that they had tried to keep Slindile at the foundation and had hoped she would take counselling and heal, but this was the response they were getting from her.
Slindile Khumalo’s Response
Slindile denied Tebogo’s claims, stating that she did not work for him and did not know where he could have fired her from. She said, “Tebogo said he fired me, I don’t know where he fired me from because I don’t work for him, that is news to me. Tebogo is not my boss and I never received a message saying that I have been let go anywhere.”
Attempts to Contact Gugu Khathi
Attempts by news reporters to get a comment from Gugu were unsuccessful at the time of publishing this article. An update will be included once received.
Last August, Gugu laughed off rumours that she and Tira were getting a divorce after cheating rumours started circulating. The couple, who dated for 18 years, have been married for nearly a decade.
The former Mafikizolo dancer-turned-businesswoman previously set the record straight with news reporters saying her arriving late at the Samas could have stirred the pot, but she and her husband were still going strong.
She said, “We are still fine, we are still happy. I don’t know where they’d get that from. Maybe it was because I was late to the Samas. There is nothing there. I don’t think we have issues that could be putting us in a situation where we’re even considering [divorce]. So, no.”
Gugu also stated that she did not know what people thought they saw but speculated that it could have been because she was late at the Samas and someone spotted something.
