The Serious Corruption Investigation team of the Free State Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (commonly known as the Hawks) received information about corrupt activities involving Moloi and Malinga.
Captain Christopher Singo, the spokesperson for the Hawks, stated that Malinga worked as an examiner at the Vrede Traffic Department testing station, while Moloi owned a driving school.
Allegedly, Moloi would identify individuals seeking learner’s licenses and provide their information to Malinga, ensuring their success in the tests.
Acting on this information, the police conducted an operation between October 2022 and November 2022, which confirmed that Moloi and Malinga were collaborating and sharing the proceeds of their illegal activities.
