Certilogo leverages digital technology to assist brands in managing the lifecycle of their garments, while providing consumers with a reliable means to verify authenticity and access accurate information about products.
eBay’s acquisition signifies its commitment to strengthening secondhand fashion authentication on its online marketplace.
“We are thrilled to welcome the talented Certilogo team to eBay, as they bring their expertise and state-of-the-art technology to our community of fashion enthusiasts,” stated Charis Marquez, Vice President of eBay.
“Through this acquisition, eBay will be able to offer brands secure and connected product solutions that are adaptable and compatible. Brands will also be empowered to safeguard their customers against counterfeits and participate in recommerce through foolproof digital product passports.” Charis Added
eBay initially announced the purchase of Certilogo in May, emphasizing that it represented a significant investment in the burgeoning pre-loved fashion category.
The acquisition solidifies eBay’s position as a trusted destination for purchasing pre-owned apparel and fashion items. Moreover, it enhances customer confidence when making environmentally conscious purchasing decisions.
“The partnership between Certilogo and eBay will unlock new opportunities for consumers and brands to connect, opening doors to greater engagement with the circular economy,” commented Michele Casucci, CEO and founder of Certilogo.
“Our team is ready to seamlessly incorporate our technology and infrastructure, ensuring a smooth transition for our customers, brand partners, and the entire eBay community towards a more sustainable and interconnected future.”
This recent acquisition aligns with eBay’s ongoing efforts to bolster its authentication and fraud detection capabilities.
In 2021, the company acquired Sneaker Con Digital’s authentication business, which specializes in verifying the authenticity of high-value footwear. Additionally, eBay acquired 3PM Shield, an AI-powered fraud detection company, in February.
