The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) achieved a remarkable milestone as they successfully filled the 95,000-seater FNB Stadium to its maximum capacity during their exuberant 10th-anniversary celebrations on Saturday.
The stadium was adorned with a sea of red berets, and the atmosphere was electric, brimming with excitement and high spirits. Leading up to the grand event, the EFF organized a series of festivities, gathering enthusiastic supporters from all corners of South Africa to honor their decade of existence.

Amidst thunderous cheers, EFF leader Julius Malema and other party leaders including his assistant made their grand entrance at the stadium.
Throughout the week, the party had been indulging in various activities, including a dinner on Thursday evening and a breakfast on Friday, to commemorate this momentous occasion.
Amongst other significant things, Malema had announced the symbolic gesture of slaughtering 100 cows to mark the party’s founding anniversary.
As part of the celebrations, esteemed academic Prof. Patrick Lumumba delivered a lecture at the University of Cape Town, praising Malema and the EFF for their visionary initiative in forming the party a decade ago.
Lumumba acknowledged that despite attaining political freedom across Africa in recent decades, the people’s yearning for economic freedom persisted. He recognized the EFF’s efforts in addressing this vital need.

However, the lecture faced a rocky beginning when members of the LGBTQIA+ community clashed with EFF supporters outside the lecture hall, leading to Lumumba making inappropriate anti-gay remarks.
The EFF’s 10th-anniversary celebrations were an impressive testament to their enduring impact and commitment to championing economic freedom in South Africa.
