Authorities in Vuwani, located near Thohoyandou, are actively searching for individuals responsible for the brutal murder of an elderly man, aged 74, and his 58-year-old partner.
The lifeless bodies of the couple were discovered at their residence in Lwamondo Tshifulanani village on Tuesday morning.
According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for the Limpopo provincial police, law enforcement was alerted to the incident.
Upon their arrival, they found the couple lying in a pool of blood inside their bedroom, both having sustained numerous deep cut wounds. Sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that intruders managed to enter the house by cutting the burglar door and forcefully opening it.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Nevondo Khorommbi, aged 74, and his partner Tshifhiwa Mercy Maphaha, aged 58.
In response to this gruesome murder, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, has condemned the act.
Hadebe has issued a directive to apprehend and bring to justice the perpetrators of this “heinous crime.”
The police in Limpopo have filed two charges of murder, although the motive behind this brutal act remains unknown at this stage.
