In a recent Twitter Space session on Friday, the billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk shed light on his company’s objective to develop a “good AGI” (Artificial General Intelligence) that possesses a maximum level of curiosity and truth-seeking abilities.
Musk described his business as a competitor to major players in the field, such as OpenAI and Google, emphasizing the shared goal of creating beneficial AI technology.
Musk highlighted the value of competition in the AI domain, emphasizing its role in preventing a single company from monopolizing development. He further expressed that competition fosters honesty among companies.
During the discussion, Musk clarified that his company was still in its early stages, referring to it as being in the “embryonic” phase.
The CEO has previously voiced criticism towards OpenAI, a company he co-founded in 2015. Musk accused the AI-powered chatbot’s content moderation of exhibiting bias, expressing his intention to develop a variant called TruthGPT.
Musk acknowledged that xAI’s technology might generate answers that are considered controversial by some.
He cautioned against the potential danger of training an AI to be politically correct or to withhold genuine beliefs. In contrast, he vowed that his own company would enable its AI model to express its true convictions.
While acknowledging the likelihood of facing criticism, Musk reiterated his overarching aim to construct an AI system that actively pursues truth.
