Inspiring Through Music
Ahead of the show, Focalistic spoke to TshisaLIVE about his intentions for his music. He said, “When we take it back home to Pretoria, we are making sure the kids feel inspired and the inspiration is tangible. My music is a way of stretching out to my fans to motivate them. I want more people to be inspired and want to change more people’s lives through my music.”
Embracing His Roots and Finding His Voice
Focalistic started out his career rapping in English but has since acquired international success rapping in his home language. He told TshisaLIVE, “Many of us artists were first introduced to hip-hop on TV, by other international stars. Amapiano came and saved us. This is our canvas as something that we relate to. So being able to do it, and do it at the highest level, is a blessing on its own.”
He further added that amapiano has become a Southern African phenomenon and has made it more comfortable for him to express himself in his own voice. He said, “I’ve been able to morph into my true self.” This journey of finding his voice has not only led him to embrace his roots but also allowed him to inspire others through his music.
