Ace Magashule was expelled from the African National Congress after failing to make representations to prevent this from happening.
The ANC’s disciplinary committee had given Magashule seven days to explain why he should not be expelled from the party after finding him guilty of bringing the ANC into disrepute.
The charges stem from the former secretary-general’s attempt to suspend ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa ahead of the party’s national conference in December.
Magashule was suspended after he failed to apologise to Ramaphosa despite clear instructions to do so.
Magashule’s expulsion was confirmed by the committee in a statement issued on Monday afternoon.
