
Police in Gauteng have launched a manhunt for two cash-in-transit vans that were hit on the N4 and R80 in Pretoria on Monday evening.
The first heist occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on the N4 between the Simon Vermooten and Rossouw off-ramps, when a gang of suspects smashed a car into the van.
According to national spokesperson Athlenda Mathe, the suspects planted explosives on the cash van.
“The security guard managed to get out before it blew up.
“An undisclosed amount of money was taken and suspects fled in a white BMW and a white Toyota Hilux. The BMW has been found in Equestria.
“In the second incident that happened at 5:45pm on the R80 from Soshanguve when suspects travelling in a black Ford Ranger started shooting at the cash van causing it to come to a halt.
“The cash van was bombed and an undisclosed amount of money taken,” said Mathe
“The suspects fled the scene with a silver Hyundai.

“Investigations are ongoing for the suspects involved in both the cash in transit robberies.”
