A police vehicle that was hijacked outside the home of a Mpumalanga police officer was discovered abandoned in Kabokweni, and the criminals are still on the run.
According to police, when the officer came home on Wednesday at 18:35, he got out of the unmarked bakkie to double-check that he had safely parked the police vehicle.
“Three allegedly armed men suddenly appeared; one of them is said to have cocked a firearm and the [SAPS] member was held at gunpoint,” police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said.
After that, the men drove away, leaving the officer behind. The hijacking was reported to Mkhuhlu’s Calcutta Police Station in Mpumalanga.
