Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has denied reports of friction between him and his deputy, Floyd Shivambu.
Speaking at the EFF’s 10-year anniversary gala dinner in Boksburg last week, Malema issued a harsh warning to party officials he said were working against him.
He further informed Shivambu that conspiring against him would be tantamount to declaring war, claiming that he had never lost a political election.
While Malema has asked Shivambu to be honest and upfront with him, he has also stated that the two will never have power struggles.
He stated that the EFF was not the type of organization to battle over leadership positions, and he also denied reports that Shivambu planned to run for the party’s presidency.
Malema stated that the two leaders, who have known each other since their days in the ANC Youth League, have no plans to conspire against one another.
“No, shame. You will have to slaughter cows for that fight to happen. It will never happen, that is what the enemy is wishing,” he said.
However, allegiance among the party’s leaders will be put to the test at the EFF’s elective conference next year.
