Nine years after the death of Senzo Meyiwa, his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo has started feeling the heat of his unfortunate passing as the singer faces cancelations from shows amid the trial of the late footballer.
A few days back, Kelly woke up to the news of being dropped from the list of performers for the Tribute To Woman concert which her managers suggested was absolutely the prerogative of the promoters to decide who performs for them.
Today, a Lesotho-based show promoter, Maseru Jazz Festival has also relieved the singer of her duty to perform in their show, stating concerns by the public as seen on social media.
With both companies canceling the singer, one thing has been consistent, and that is the promoters stating that their actions do not suggest that Kelly Khumalo is guilty of Senzo Meyiwa’s murder as they respect the legal process that is going on.
A press statement by Maseru Jazz Festival as obtained by SurgeZirc SA reads:
“As Maseru Park we here to inform you that we have seen comments on social media about one of our guest’ performers which came to attention that we need to inform our public and society that we are putting Kelly Khumalo on hold. We respect the professionalism of the legal team on the processes.
“The management of the Maseru Park in the interest of our JAZZ FESTIVAL, we have taken the decision to relieve KELLY KHUMALO of the obligation to perform at our festival, and we acknowledge that she is not guilty until proven so.”
Sis may have just realized that someone actually died and that the process to determine his killers is on. But, as both companies said, the singer remains innocent until the law says otherwise.
Will the singer continue to bag contract terminations? Angazi mina!
