
A 28-year-old man who allegedly murdered his two elderly relatives with an axe in the Eastern Cape is scheduled to appear in the Keiskammahoek Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
According to the police, the victims, aged 73 and 83, were at their home in Cata, located outside Keiskammahoek.

Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, a police spokesperson, stated that the police were called to the crime scene on Saturday following reports of a murder.
“Upon investigation, the police discovered that the elderly individuals had been assaulted with an axe. The suspect was apprehended by members of the community, and the alleged weapon used was confiscated by the police,” said Mawisa.
Mawisa added that the motive behind the killings would be investigated by the police.

“The suspect will make his initial court appearance at the Keiskammahoek Magistrate’s Court on Monday,” Mawisa added.
Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, the Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, expressed strong condemnation for the brutal attack.
