In yet another shooting incident, a man from KwaZulu-Natal was subjected to multiple gunshots, allegedly from a high-caliber weapon.
The incident took place in Emona, near Tongaat on the north coast, on Thursday night.
Prem Balram, the spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), described the incident as an “execution” where the victim was targeted while seated in his car.
After receiving reports of intense gunfire in the area around 6:25 PM, residents contacted Rusa.
Although they were unable to provide the precise location, a team was immediately dispatched to locate the source of the shooting.
Upon thorough patrolling, the team discovered a bullet-riddled VW Golf.
The lifeless body of the driver was found slumped in the seat, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
According to Balram, it appears that the victim was parked by the side of the road when the attack occurred.
Several rifle cartridges were recovered at the scene, suggesting the use of firearms in the assault.
As of now, the motive behind the incident remains unknown.
