- Click on the profile icon and select “Profile Transfer.”
- Choose the option “An Existing Account” to initiate the transfer.
- Enter the email address and password associated with the desired account.
- An email notification will be sent to the account holder, informing them of the transferred profile.
Initially launched in October 2022, the profile transfer feature allowed users to create new accounts and transfer personalized data such as viewing history, customized recommendations, and favorites lists.
This feature was introduced in preparation for Netflix’s crackdown on password sharing, which required users to pay $7.99 per month for additional memberships if they were not living in the same household as the account holder.
The updated profile transfer feature will be particularly beneficial for users transitioning from living with their parents to sharing an account with a significant other or roommates.
However, it’s important to note that if a user doesn’t reside in the same household but still wishes to transfer their profile, they will be added as an extra member and charged the monthly fee accordingly.
