The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has dropped all criminal charges against the six suspects suspected in the Nomzamo tavern shooting on July 14, last year.
On Monday, NPA spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane said that this decision was made after a thorough analysis of the dockets relating to the tavern shooting incidents in Kliptown and Orlando.

Six men were arrested and appeared in court on charges relating to the 16 deaths when unknown shooters opened fire on patrons, according to Mjonondwane.
“The state will continue with prosecution against Lepolesa Moshoeshoe on attempted murder charges in a Doornkop docket registered in September 2021 and Thembinkosi Kiviet on a murder charge registered with Orlando police in April 2022.”
The NPA found that there were no prospects of a successful prosecution since witnesses were afraid for their lives or lost their lives, she added.
