According to a reliable tracker, the Twitter competitor was officially launched on June 6 (or June 5 in the Americas).

On the first day of its release, Threads amassed a staggering 2 million sign-ups in just two hours, followed by an additional 5 million sign-ups within four hours.
Astonishingly, within a mere seven hours, the app boasted a user base of over 10 million individuals, as announced by Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta.
The following morning, the Meta CEO shared the exciting news that more than 30 million people had signed up to experience the new app.
Previously, OpenAI’s ChatGPT bot held the distinction of being one of the fastest-growing consumer products, achieving 10 million daily users in a span of 40 days and accumulating 100 million monthly users in under two months.
However, Threads has surpassed this milestone within its inaugural month, successfully amassing 100 million monthly active users. Retaining these users on the platform will prove to be the real challenge going forward.
While Threads is currently attracting numerous users to Meta’s new text-focused social platform, some essential features are noticeably absent.
Notably, the app does not support ActivityPub, the protocol used for posts on decentralized networks. Although Meta has confirmed that they are working on integrating it, the app cannot yet be considered a part of the Fediverse until this feature is implemented.
Additionally, the app lacks certain functionalities, such as a read-only web interface, post search capabilities, direct messaging, hashtags, and a “Following” feed.

Due to Instagram’s policies, nudity is prohibited on the platform, unlike Bluesky, another alternative to Twitter that embraces such content.
Nonetheless, achieving a user base of 100 million in such a short span of time is an extraordinary feat. It appears that Threads has solidified its position in the social media landscape and is poised for continued success.
