Reality TV star Phelo Bala has found himself at the center of a tumultuous turn of events as he was reportedly fired from the highly anticipated show, Gqeberha: The Empire, even before making his on-screen debut.
Despite impressing during the audition, Phelo’s failure to attend casting due to a weekend hangover led to his abrupt dismissal.
The shocking revelation unfolded on The Bala Family reality show, where the Bala family gathered around the dining table to address Phelo’s ongoing struggles with excessive drinking and unruly behavior.
Opening up about his absence, Phelo admitted, “I didn’t arrive at work on the day.
I had a very hectic weekend, and on Monday, I was supposed to be at work.”
Phelo’s sister, Pinky Bala, expressed profound disappointment in his actions, highlighting how he often undermines opportunities that could potentially transform his life.
She emphasized that the family’s reality show provided a platform for them to support one another, emphasizing the importance of being transparent about their challenges, even when the cameras aren’t rolling.
Pinky further revealed her frustration with Phelo’s lack of openness about his life and choices, making it increasingly challenging for them to extend a helping hand.
“There is nothing we haven’t done for Phelo to better himself.
This makes me see him as a crybaby sometimes, and he needs to grow and realize that time is running faster than his efforts to improve himself,” she expressed.
Loyiso Bala, Phelo’s brother, criticized the decision to address the issue within the context of the family reality show, considering Phelo’s fragile nature and difficulty opening up in front of a large audience.
Loyiso shared that they had already facilitated therapy sessions for Phelo, emphasizing that the ultimate responsibility for self-improvement lies with him.
Tshedza Pictures production manager, Qhayiya Dana, refrained from providing specific details about Phelo’s role or the circumstances surrounding his termination but assured that the door remained open for future auditions.
“We can confirm that Phelo Bala auditioned for a role in the Telenovela. He is more than welcome to audition again if another role opens up,” Dana stated.
