Constable Thango, aged 32, was among the officers called to the scene of the ongoing store robbery in the area.
Sadly, he was wounded in a shootout with the suspects and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following the tragic event, the National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, swiftly mobilized resources to track down and arrest Thango’s killers.
On Sunday morning, a police team acted on information and engaged in a shootout with the suspects in Vosloorus.
The outcome was the arrest of two men, aged 27 and 29, and the recovery of three firearms.
However, one of the arrested men, the 27-year-old, passed away in the hospital due to injuries sustained during the shootout.
General Masemola praised the team’s rapid response and successful arrests related to the murder of Constable Thango.
