The police in Phalaborwa have initiated a search for a suspect involved in a robbery incident that took place on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred when two individuals unlawfully entered the residence of a 67-year-old man and physically assaulted him.

The assailants used unidentified sharp objects to attack the man, causing injuries to his head.
Additionally, they bound him using curtain ropes. According to Malesela Ledwaba, the police spokesperson, upon noticing the approaching law enforcement, the suspects hastily departed in the victim’s vehicle.
They stole various items, and loaded them into the victim’s Toyota Land Cruiser before fleeing.
However, the suspects lost control of the stolen vehicle on a road between Makhushaneng and Phalaborwa.
One suspect managed to escape while the other sustained severe injuries.
The injured suspect was apprehended and immediately transported to a local hospital under police supervision.
Tragically, he later succumbed to his injuries and passed away while receiving medical treatment.
Ledwaba further stated that a revolver and other firearms were discovered and retrieved.
The stolen items were also found at the site of the accident.
The authorities seized three firearms, namely, a revolver with its serial number filed off, a Norinco firearm with its serial number filed off as well, and a 9mm Parabellum pistol.

Although the deceased suspect is known to the police, identification by his family is yet to be established.
The police investigation into the matter is ongoing.
