Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the Zulu traditional prime minister and founding head of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), has been released from hospital after being admitted for more than a month.
The senior prince was admitted due to prolonged back pain. He had other health issues while in the hospital and spent some time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
His family claimed a week ago that his condition had greatly improved.
According to his family, he has returned home and will continue his recovery at his KwaPhindangene homestead.
The family thanked the Zulu King, Misuzulu KaZwelithini, President Cyril Ramaphosa, and former presidents Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe for their help.
The family has stated that visitors would not be permitted anytime soon since the prince needs time to recover.
