Despite the recent fallout with several members of his inner circle, Prince Thulani remains steadfast in his support for King Misuzulu. Addressing rumors that he had switched allegiances to back Prince Buzabazi, a contender for the throne supported by Prince Mbonisi Zulu, Prince Thulani categorically dismissed the notion as a rumor.
He clarified that there is only one true Zulu king, and that is King Misuzulu. The ongoing dispute over the throne also involves Prince Simakade Zulu, King Misuzulu’s half-brother and the first-born son of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini.
However, Prince Thulani has made it clear that his loyalty lies solely with King Misuzulu and that he has not abandoned him.
The rumors of his supposed defection arose after Prince Thulani was seen in the company of Prince Mbonisi and Prince Buzabazi during a dinner event organized by the Bayede wine marketing company, which had the blessing of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu.
In a video that went viral, the trio was captured in one room, along with former Judge Jerome Ngwenya, a close confidant of the late King.
He explained that the “Wena Wendlovu” salutation he uttered during the event was in honor of King Goodwill Zwelithini, not an endorsement of Prince Buzabazi as the King.
He urged people to stop spreading false claims about his loyalty, emphasizing that he remains firmly devoted to King Misuzulu.
In the court case challenging King Misuzulu’s claim to the Zulu throne, brought forth by Prince Simakade, Prince Thulani plays a crucial role as his affidavit addresses the allegations surrounding the May 2021 meeting that identified and nominated Misuzulu as the heir to King Goodwill Zwelithini.
Prince Thulani explains the attendees’ roles and highlights that some present were there as part of Prince Misuzulu’s support staff, rather than core members of the Zulu royal family.
