In a tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday morning, five individuals were shot dead in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Richards Bay.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, but authorities suspect a possible drug-related turf war. According to Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal police, four suspects got out of a vehicle and opened fire on the victims.
Sadly, four of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fifth victim succumbed to their injuries at a local clinic.
The suspects quickly fled the area in a blue VW Polo, leaving the police in pursuit. A search for the suspects is currently underway, and the authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Lt-Col Netshiunda has appealed to the public, stating, ‘If you have any details regarding the whereabouts of the suspects, please contact your nearest police station or make an anonymous tip-off through the MySAPS app or Crime Stop hotline at 08600-10111.’
