In a significant breakthrough against crime, law enforcement authorities apprehended two men, aged 30 and 39, for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
The arrest came after a private security company spotted a suspicious vehicle with two male occupants on the R22 road during a High Density Operation in the Hluhluwe area on 26 July 2023.

The police, in collaboration with the private security team, swiftly chased and intercepted the suspicious bakkie at Kwamduku area.
Upon inspection, they discovered that the vehicle had a fabricated registration number and fraudulent license disk.
Further investigations revealed that the bakkie was allegedly hijacked on the same day and was being sought by Umlazi police.
The suspects faced charges for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and contravention of the immigration act.
They appeared before the Ubombo Magistrates Court on 27 July 2023, where they were remanded in custody for a formal bail application.
Their next court appearance is scheduled for 3 August 2023 at the same court.

The arrest received commendation from District Commissioner Major General Mduduzi Shezi, who praised the dedication and cooperation of all law-enforcement agencies in the relentless fight against crime in the Umkhanyakude region.
