
Police have apprehended three more G4S employees on allegations of aiding Thabo Bester, a convicted rapist and murderer, in his escape from lawful detention.
With these recent arrests, the total number of individuals detained in connection with Bester’s escape is now 12, including Bester himself.

According to Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the national police spokesperson, two of the suspects are 47 years old, while the third is 37 years old. All three individuals are male and work for G4S, as stated in the official statement.
Mathe further explained that all three suspects were taken into custody on Monday at their respective residences. One suspect was apprehended at his home in Botshabelo, while the other two were arrested at their residences in Bloemfontein.
The charges brought against them include assisting a prisoner in escaping lawful detention, violation of a corpse, and corruption.
The trio is scheduled to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, June 28.
So far, the police have arrested several other individuals in connection with the case, namely former G4S prison warder Senohe Matsoara, Zanda Moyo, Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, former Integritron Integrated Solutions camera technician Teboho Lipholo, suspended G4S employee Tieho Frans Makhotsa, former G4S guard Buti Masukela, suspended G4S employee Natassja Jansen, and Bester’s partner, Magudumana.

Jansen and Sekeleni were granted bail of R10,000 each, while the remaining accused individuals are still in custody.
The case has been adjourned until August 8 to allow for further investigation.
