An overnight fire in Town 2, Khayelitsha, Cape Town, has resulted in a devastating loss of life and the destruction of approximately 100 homes. The fire broke out at around 9pm on Sunday, prompting authorities to dispatch 12 firefighting resources and over 50 firefighters to the scene.
Despite their best efforts, the fire rapidly spread, making it difficult to contain. Tragically, the body of an adult was discovered amidst the ruins at 1 a.m. The fire was eventually extinguished shortly before 3 a.m., leaving behind a trail of destruction.
