Kelly Khumalo has just started feeling the effect of the trial of her late boyfriend goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa as she has been fired from a show by the organizers after a state witness linked the Empini singer to one of the defendants in the soccer player’s murder.
Col Lambertus Steyn, the state’s fourth witness, testified last week that he had proven that Kelly, who was in a relationship with Senzo at the time of his death, and one of the accused, Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli, had made contact on two occasions.

The first time was on August 2, 2014, and the second time was on October 15, 2014, just days before the soccer star was assassinated.
A few days later, the promoters of the Tribute To Women concert, at which Kelly was scheduled to appear, published a statement confirming her removal from the list of performers for the event.
The organization wrote, “We have noted, with concern, comments on social media platforms and calls from many patrons of our festival.
“We respect the legal processes and wish to indicate Ms. Kelly Khumalo is innocent until proven otherwise.
“However, in the interest of safeguarding our festival, management has taken the decision to relieve Ms. Khumalo of her obligations to perform at our festival this year to afford her and her team the time they require to deal with the issues emanating from the current court proceedings.”
Though Kelly is yet to address the decision of the organization, her followers have assured her of their warm support with a fan writing, “We won’t stop loving and believing in you mama.”
To which Kelly replied, “I know and I thank God for you guys.”
