On Tuesday, Bolt Lite drivers protested on a busy Randburg road after a video of a Bajaj Qute “vehicle” being crushed went viral on social media.
Three supposed minibus taxi patrollers are shown smashing the bright yellow “vehicle” with a rock in a short video that has gone viral on social networking platforms TikTok, X (previously Twitter), and Facebook.

The men smash its windows, pop its tyres, and appear to try to push it down a slope.
The men appear to be taxi drivers because they travel in a car labelled “taxi patrol” with the words “taxi patrol” inscribed on the bumper.
The labelled brown Toyota Corolla is readily apparent, and the attackers appear to make no attempt to conceal their identities.
The new Bolt Lite category is the most affordable on the e-hailing platform, and it has emerged as the next target for the minibus taxi industry and e-hailing companies.
