The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is currently searching for a suspect who is on the run after their officers intercepted a kidnapping in the Brooklyn area of Pretoria over the weekend.
According to TMPD spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, an ongoing investigation is in progress to apprehend another suspect involved in the kidnapping of a woman from Pretoria.

While carrying out their routine duties on Saturday in the Brooklyn area, the TMPD cable theft members heard a commotion on Hazelwood Street.
Acting swiftly, they rushed to the scene and witnessed two males forcefully pushing a female into their vehicle. The TMPD officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it quickly fled, leading to a high-speed chase.
During the pursuit, the suspects eventually stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. The TMPD officers were determined and managed to apprehend one suspect. Upon interviewing the victim, it was revealed that she had been robbed of her cellphone, and the suspects were attempting to coerce her into providing them with her banking details.
Further investigations into the incident revealed that the vehicle in question had been reported stolen in Mamelodi, with an active case number.

Additionally, the number plates affixed to the vehicle were found to be non-existent and did not correspond with the license disc. Inside the vehicle, the officers discovered sets of number plates, five dummy rounds, and a firearm magazine.
As a result, the arrested suspect is facing charges of kidnapping, armed robbery, possession of unlawful ammunition, possession of a firearm magazine, and possession of a stolen vehicle. The TMPD is currently conducting an ongoing investigation to apprehend the remaining suspect involved in the incident.
